Supporting our local businesses has never been more important, 2020 has been a crazy year. We've already seen some local businesses around us shut down permanently. There are so many amazing local businesses in the Okanagan, and we always love when friends share with us new places they have been to.
We thought we'd share some of our favourite places and go to businesses for local Christmas gifts that are always a hit. We'd also love to know what your favourites are include #LocalOkanaganXmas on social media so we can find all your great recommendations.
A recent survey done by the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses found that in BC 1 in 7 businesses are at risk of going under in 2020. Let's do what we can to support local, that doesn't just include shopping local. If funds are tight this Christmas leave a review for a business, share their social media posts with your friends, or create an Instagram story about a business you like.
Here is our list of some of the AMAZING local businesses we LOVE! We will be sharing 12 businesses over the next week and a bit (as a few have some time specific special offers we can't share just yet).
The first arrangement we saw from Shannon was at our grand opening as a gift, and WOW it was beautiful. In 2020 we need more flowers, greenery and just beauty around us which is why we wanted to share this amazing business.
For Christmas Tangerine Orchid has these amazing table arrangements available for $70. They also do custom arrangements too! Visit tangerineorchid.ca.
A lot of posts about 2020 talk about the amount of drinks that have been consumed, so of course we had to have a winery on the list. Squeezed is a local Oliver family owned business and they are having a Black Friday Sale! You can get a mixed case of their wine with FREE Shipping to BC, Alberta & Saskatchewan for just $125! Or a Case of Merlot for $110! Shop for your case at DrinkSqueezed.ca!
Coffee! Sprout is amazing because not only do they have delicious coffees, they also bake bread fresh in their space every day. I don't know if there is a better smell than freshly baked bread.

Fill - Kelowna's Refill Store
We recently visited this new business in Kelowna and wow if you want to be more conscious of the plastic you are using, you have got to check them out.
FILL is a refill store that helps make our community more sustainable through reducing plastic! At FILL they carry a range of household and personal hygiene products for refilling: laundry soap, fabric softener, dish soap, dishwasher detergents, all purpose cleaners, window cleaner, bathroom cleaner, shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioners, body lotion, face lotion, face cleaner, bath salts, bath bombs and more!
You can come and fill your cleaning and hygiene products either using your existing containers or by using new glass containers or even upcycled containers. Wine bottles are a favourite to refill! Check out their website!
This is another newer business in Kelowna opening up in 2020! If you are vegan or trying to eat less meat but still want delicious meals we recommend checking this company out. We have tried a lot of their menu as they are very close to us, but our favourite has to be the Coconut BLT Sandwich or Cookies & Cream Protein Smoothie.
They are currently running a special offer on their gift cards so a great way to pick up a gift and give a gift to yourself too :) Visit their website.
Now this is probably a more well known local brand on our list. But we love the clothing and the team over at Okanagan Lifestyle. We also love how they have local people in the community model their clothing, so perhaps as you browse through their new winter goods you might recognize a face to two. Check out their new products.
Cynthia Gunsinger's Art
The beauty in the Okanagan is so abundant, and Cynthia takes those amazing Okanagan scenes and creates beautiful artwork. She does canvas paintings AND she also turns her art into cards. So I know we tend to look at Christmas Cards but what about instead of those you share a beautiful print of the mountains, big white or perhaps a sunset. Next time you are in the Spa take a look I bet you'll spot a card we have on display :) Her cards are available at Tourism Kelowna and online at LoveforKelowna.com (free delivery on orders by Dec.22).

Every Monday thru Thursday in December they have Wrap it Up Weekdays where you bring in your gifts and they have the wrapping supplies!
